Radamés Gnattali: a recorded legacy
Over the past decade, Luís Rabello has emerged as one of the leading interpreters of the music of Radamés Gnattali (1906–1988), bringing to light the depth, sophistication, and originality of this iconic Brazilian composer. Born from a close friendship between Gnattali and the Rabello family, this artistic journey gained new dimension when the composer’s widow, Nelly Gnattali, granted Luís exclusive access to his unpublished manuscripts.
Since then, Rabello has recorded the world premiere performances of several important works, including the Piano Sonatas Nos. 1 and 2, Estudo em Choro, Three Preludes for Piano, the Sonata and Poem for Violin and Piano, among others. These recordings have received high praise from international publications such as Gramophone, Diapason, and De Standaard, establishing Rabello as a true ambassador of Brazilian music on the international stage.
